The article analyzes the life and activities of Victor Rothschild, 3rd Baron Rothschild (1910–1990), highlighting his significant contributions to British political, social, and scientific life. The text presents the life path of a member of this renowned European family of Jewish bankers, from a turbulent childhood and youth – marked by the stigma of antisemitism – to his academic and political career. Considerable attention is devoted to Rothschild’s involvement in intelligence activities during World War II, including his participation in MI5 operations and the related Polish aspect of his biography. The article also provides a detailed discussion of the controversies and accusations regarding the politician’s alleged espionage for Soviet intelligence. Based on a rich body of literature – primarily in English – the text portrays Victor Rothschild as a multidimensional figure of the British elite, whose contributions and life stance had a significant impact on the development of British politics in the 20th century.
