The article examines China’s comprehensive strategy towards the South Caucasus, focusing on direct investment in Georgia and Azerbaijan. China is pursuing its Belt and Road Initiative in the region, investing in infrastructure, energy and logistics projects to strengthen economic ties and increase Beijing’s influence in the region. As part of this, it is also supporting the development of ports and railroads and transportation routes. In addition to economic activity, the Middle Kingdom is also active in the areas of education and culture, using the network of Confucius Institutes for this purpose. The article examines how these investments fit into China’s broader geopolitical strategy and its drive to strengthen its presence in the South Caucasus.
