Influence of the term of establishment of plantations on the yield and quality of psyllium seeds (Plantago psyllium L.)

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of the plantation establishment date on the yield and quality of psyllium seeds. Used two terms of plantation establishment: planting spring seeds (third decade of May) and sowing late spring (third decade of June). Seeds were sown in an amount of 3 kg· ha-1. After harvesting, the seed yield of 1m-2, weight of 1000 seeds and their germination were determined. In the seeds, contents of mucous, polyphenolic acids and were determined. Spring sowing seeds proved to be advantageous in terms of the resulting, yield of 1 m-2
and the value of seeds. The late spring sowing seeds date was better in terms of the resulting mass of 1000 seeds. The content of polyphenolic acids and mucilage in the seeds do not depend significantly on the date of seeds sowing.
