Neem (Azadirachta indica) – economic importance and application in cosmetics and medicine

Neem (Azadirachta indica A. Juss) is a valuable plant with medicinal properties grown in tropical and semi-tropical regions. For centuries, the tree has been used in medicine, cosme-tology, and pest and disease control. It contains a number of precious active ingredients with antimicrobial, antipyretic, antioxidant, immunostimulating, and antiphlogistic properties. However, the knowledge of neem in Poland is scarce, therefore the aim of this paper was to sum up all the available information on the health benefits of the plant.
