Realizacja czwartej rewolucji przemysłowej w bibliotece uniwersyteckiej w Afryce Subsaharyjskiej: trendy, szanse i wyzwania

Cel: W artykule podano badaniu uniwersytecką bibliotekę w czasie czwartej rewolucji przemysłowej (dalej: CRP) oraz warunki wdrożenia i utrzymania takiego rozwiązania w Nigerii. CRP jest charakteryzowana przez poziom automatyzacji, wdrażanie nowych technologii i sztucznej inteligencji, łączność z Internetem i dostępność do globalnej sieci informacyjnej, subskrypcję renomowanych internetowych baz danych, jakość i kompleksowy zbiór w zróżnicowanych formatach, generację epoki cyfrowej jako dominujących klientów, zwiększony popytem dla bezproblemowego dostępu do zasobów online i operacji wirtualnych, nowe przestrzenie biblioteczne (wspólne uczenie się, wspólne badanie i twórcza przestrzeń), otwartą komunikację naukową, zarządzanie danymi badawczymi, aplikacje mediacji społecznościowych, cyfrowe odzyskiwanie i zabezpieczanie. Wyzwania przeciwstawiające się skutecznej krystalizacji bibliotek uniwersyteckich CRP to: ograniczenia finansowe, nieodpowiednia infrastruktura, odporność na zmiany, nieodpowiednie umiejętności i kompetencje, kwestie bezpieczeństwa i włamań, brak znajomości międzynarodowych standardów.
Wnioski: Artykuł zaleca następujące rozwiązania: przywództwo, wykazanie i uzasadnienie zwrotu z inwestycji, praktyki porównawcze, systemy przeciwwłamaniowe i systemy tworzenia kopii zapasowych, odpowiednie zasilanie i przepustowość, wyposażenie i społeczna odpowiedzialność biznesu, rodzime oprogramowanie do zarządzania bibliotekami oraz inicjatywy na rzecz budowania potencjału.
