Czy Salomon wielkim budowniczym był? Czy w ogóle był?
Niniejszy artykuł przedstawia dane archeologiczne pochodzące z Megiddo, Gezer i Hazor. Dzięki nowym danym uzyskanym metodą C14 powstanie warstw Hazor X–IX, Gezer VIII/8, Megiddo VB–IVA/Q-4, H-5 wraz z ich obwarowaniami i bramami sześciokomorowymi, należy datować na połowę wieku X przed Chr. Należy przy tym odrzucić możliwość ich budowy przez niezależne ośrodki kananejskie lub zdecentralizowane ośrodki hebrajskie, czemu przeczy jednolity wzorzec budowy oraz bardzo zbliżony czas powstania. Najbardziej prawdopodobnym ich budowniczym w tym okresie jest Zjednoczona Monarchia hebrajska. Tradycja biblijna wskazuje tu na Salomona. Zbieżność danych archeologicznych z 1 Krl 9,15 każe przypuszczać, że wiersz ten zachował dawny materiał i został włączony przez redaktora deuteronomistycznego do jego dziejów Izraela.
