Abstract


The author analyzes Rev 14:1–5 to answer the following questions: Are sex and sexual purity a necessary condition to belong to the group of 144,000 people gathered on “Mount Zion”? If so, who belongs to the group of “purchased from among mankind”? Are they men who are virgins endowed with the other two qualities, or male virgins and those who are not virgins but faithfully follow the Lamb and always tell the truth? If not, do women who are characterized by the same attributes as men belong to the group of the “redeemed”?

Zdzisław Żywica, Uniwersytet Warmińsko-Mazurski w Olsztynie

Zdzisław Józef Żywica - kapłan archidiecezji warmińskiej, dr hab., profesor Uniwersytetu Warmińsko-Mazurskiego w Olsztynie. Studiował w Olsztynie, Warszawie, Bonn i Rzymie. W latach 1995–1999 w PIB uzyskał stopień licencjata nauk biblijnych. W 1999 r. przebywał w Ziemi Świętej, gdzie brał udział w wyprawach archeologicznych oraz prowadził kwerendy biblioteczne. Obecnie jest pracownikiem Katedry Teologii Biblijnej UWM. Zainteresowania badawcze: Pięcioksiąg, Prorocy, Księgi greckie ST, Ewangelie synoptyczne, Listy św. Pawła, List Jakuba oraz Apokalipsa św. Jana. W zakresie teologii biblijnej - etyka biblijna. Jest autorem monografii: „Wolność synów” w Mateuszowych logiach Jezusa (Mt 17,24-27 i 22,15-22 par.). Studia z Biblistyki, t. VII (Warszawa 1994); Kościół Jezusa a judaizm i poganie według ewangelisty Mateusza. Teologia narratywna (Olsztyn 2006) oraz ponad stu publikacji naukowych i popularnonaukowych w wersjach polsko- i obcojęzycznych.
