Exegesis and toponymy in the „Letters” of Saint Jerome

The present essay aims at providing an access to exegetical method of St. Jerome as carried out in his Letters, consisting in the analysis and interpretation of the names of places which mentioned in the Holy Writs. The essay does not take into consideration the Letter no. 78 [ad Fabiolam de mansionibus filiorum Israhel per heremum], since such a letter has been the object of a previous surveys of the Author.
