Abstract

The article discusses the following criteria of the interpretation of the Apocalypse (Book of Revelation): 1) The Apocalypse is being born in the liturgical context and is given to a community gathered together for  liturgy, which is celebrating the risen Christ; 2) The Apocalypse does not provide information, but shapes the mentality of the community through meditating on the Old Testament writings in the Christological key; 3) The Apocalypse belongs the genre of apocalyptic, whose natural means of communication is symbolism; 4) When interpreting the Apocalypse one must take into consideration the entire context (Sitz im Leben), in which the community lives.
