Bein g conce rne d of Judas has inc reased wi th discovery of an apocrypha att ribute d to him. However, it see ms that canonical traditions about him are still not perfec tly ex amin ated, especi ally the one in Acts 1:16-20.The presen t artic le is an attempt of an exe getic al analysis of that peric ope and indicate s its rel ations with the other narratives about pursuer death, both in Acts itself (12:20-23) as in earlie r literature (2Mc 9:1-17). Even in an early apocryfic tradition connec ted wi th St. Papius of Hie rapolis this direc tion of Judas’ death inte rpret ing appears.
