Artykuł wymienia dostępne źródła potwierdzające obecność żydowską w rzymskiej Afryce Północnej, m.in. archeologiczne, takie jak synagoga w Naro (Hamman- Lif). Omówione zostają wzmianki autorów chrześcijańskich, takich jak Tertulian i Augustyn (zwłaszcza jego List 8*). Zaznacza się pogorszenie sytuacji Żydów w Afryce bizantyńskiej, od postanowień Noweli 37 z 535 roku po przymusowy chrzest w Kartaginie w 632 roku, opisany przez Maksyma Wyznawcę i autora Doctrina Jacobi nuper baptizati. Na koniec omówiono zagadnienia judaizmu Berberów i ich oporu przeciw najazdowi muzułmańskiemu, unieśmiertelnionemu w legendzie królowej Kahiny.Bibliografia
