Jewish Martyrs (kedoshim) in Kraków in the Middle Ages and the Early Modern Period

Prior to the outbreak of WWII Jewish communities (gminas) used to commemorate their martyrs twice a year. Nowadays the tradition is continued i.a. in Cracow, but the names of martyrs are not mentioned. Available sources such as Memorbucher (memorial books), preserved inscriptions from Jewish cemeteries and printed sources allow us to identify individuals who in the tradition of the Cracow gmina were considered as martyrs. Th e article discusses sources concerning martyrs of the Jewish gmina in Cracow, information included in the sources and the manner in which events leading to their death were presented.
