The Concept of Child Religious Education in the Views of Sofia Cavallett i (1917–2011)

Abstract

Sofia Cavalletti (1917–2011) created the concept of religious education based on the pedagogical principles of Maria Montessori (1870–1952). Her pedagogical views are being introduced to work with children between the age of three and twelve years worldwide. In Poland this concept began to spread after 1990. It is the subject of this research paper aimed at getting to know the origins of the concept, attempting to re-construct and interpret its theoretical assumptions, as well as description of reception of this concept in the world. The research concerned both the theory and practice that constituted the pedagogical views of S. Cavalletti on the religious education of the child
