Today, a family is becoming an emotional community and losing the features of a permanent institution (de-institutionalisation). It has evolved from formal relationships, which were dominant in the past, to personal relationships and those based on emotional ties, which are observed today. Expectations about the quality of family life are changing. In the context of the ongoing socio-cultural changes in a family, a question arises about the state and prospects of moral education in a family. Does it continue to be the basic institution that shapes the moral identity of man, or is it losing some of its socialisation and educational functions to other instances? Is a family still a dynamic environment for moral education? What style of upbringing is dominant in Polish families? Some of these issues are addressed in this article.
