“OUTSTANDING INDIVIDUALS TEND NOT TO BE EASY:” THE COOPERATION OF MARIAN HEMAR AND JAN NOWAK-JEIORAŃSKI AT THE POLISH SECTION OF RADIO FREE EUROPE
The article discusses the circumstances of the cooperation of Marian Hemar (1901–1972) with Polish radio stations, first in Washington, D.C., and then in Munich (the Voice of America and Radio Free Europe). What seems particularly significant is the sequence of events leading to the establishment of Hemar’s radio cabaret show (broadcast in 1952–1968), retraced on the basis of the correspondence between the poet and Jan Nowak-Jeziorański.
