Działalność publicystyczna i stowarzyszeniowa Władysława Platera

The history of the Polish emigration to Switzerland in the nineteenth century is often overlooked in favour of the Great Emigration to France, the figure of Władysław Plater is no exception. The article identifies and discusses the most significant aspects of Plater's journalistic and associative activity in France and Switzerland between 1830 and 1889, including the Parisian periodicals “Le Polonais” and “Dziennik Narodowy,” the Central Committee for Aid to Poles in Zurich, and the renowned Polish Museum in Rapperswil. The examination of this activity sheds light on the largely unexplored history of Polish emigration to Switzerland in the nineteenth century, Polish-Swiss relations, and the cultural and political context that led to Plater's exclusion from the elite of the Great Emigration activists.
