About the Journal
Focus and Scope
“The Archives of Polish and East European Emigration” is the only historical-humanistic journal in Poland dedicated to studies on the history and culture of the Polish 20th century emigration and mutual relations between Polish emigration and political emigrations from other Central and East European countries.
The journal is published by the Archives of Polish Emigration at the University Library in Toruń, appears as a release of the Nicolaus Copernicus University Press in the series „The Archives of Polish and East European Emigration. Studies and Materials on History of Polish Emigration after 1939” edited by Stefania Kossowska (until 2003) and Mirosław A. Supruniuk. The journal publishes studies and outlines of strictly scientific character as well as scientifically elaborated sources. Moreover, recollective and biographic outlines.
The journal arose in 1998, from the initiative of the staff and cooperatives of the Archives – archival research workshop arisen within the University Library in 1995.
The journal is of interdisciplinary character. It happens that the journal books are dedicated to the deceased personalities in the exile: Jerzy Giedroyc, Stefania Kossowska, Józef Mackiewicz, Tymon Terlecki among others.
From the year 2000, the Editorial Staff of the journal “The Archives of Polish and East European Emigration”, has granted an annual prize for an outstanding master and doctoral thesis dedicated to the history of Polish emigration in the 20th century. The prize is of international scope.
“The Archives of Polish and East European Emigration” obtained a “B” category in the evaluation of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
