Une vision poétique dans "Les Prophéties du Chilam Balam" (1976)

Abstract

Comment peut-on lire le produit d’érudition d’un écrivain comme Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clézio ? Son écriture comprend du roman, la nouvelle, le récit, c’est-à-dire de la fiction, à la non-fiction comme essai, texte autobiographique et traduction. D’ailleurs, ce qui paraît commun dans son œuvre de tous genres, c’est une substance poétique qui valorise le pouvoir de lettres, au-delà de leur sens préétabli. Les Prophéties du Chilam Balam, cette traduction leclézienne du mythe précolombien est ésotérique à l’approche herméneutique. Loin d’être analytique et encyclopédique, elle garde, plus que tout, le style et la forme originaux du texte en question. Or, au point de vue poétique, le document a priori factuel se lit comme un objet à apprécier et à appréhender dans lequel l’organisation du texte engendre le dynamisme et l’horizon des sens, ouvert. Le lecteur y est invité à prendre sa part, selon ses propres moyens culturel et cognitif ainsi que sensible et affectif. Les Prophéties du Chilam Balam permet ainsi de vérifier une vision poétique. Cette dernière qui est le fil directeur de toute l’œuvre leclézienne.

How could we approach the product of erudition of a writer like Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clézio? His writing includes from novel, novella, short story, that is to say fiction, to non-fiction as essay, autobiographic text and translation. Besides, what seems common in his work of all genres is a poetic substance which values power of letters beyond their predetermined meaning. Les Prophéties du Chilam Balam, this Leclezian translation of pre-Columbian myth is esoteric in the hermeneutic approach. Far from being analytic and encyclopedic, it conserves, more than anything, the original style and form of the text in question. On the other hand, in a poetic point of view, the document a priori factual is read as an object to appreciate and to apprehend in which the organization of the text generates dynamism and opened horizon of meanings. Here, the reader is invited to take his or her part, according to its own cultural and cognitive capacities as well as sensitive and affective. Les Prophéties du Chilam Balam allows thus to verify a poetic vision. This vision which runs through the whole Leclezian works.
