Ethics
The quarterly journal "Zbliżenia Cywilizacyjne" („Civilization Rapprochements”) applies the principles of publication ethics resulting from the Code of Conduct adopted by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
The standards of ethical behavior apply to all entities involved in the publication process.
The authors shall submit declarations regarding the originality of the submitted text, the possession of copyrights and the absence of ghostwriting or guest authorship. In case of revealing the fact that the author of the publication has committed unethical behaviour (e.g. plagiarism or republishing a previously published work or parts of it) – before taking the steps provided for in the COPE guidelines, the Executive Editor shall ask the author for explanation. Every submitted artticle is checked using the Crossref Similarity Check tool. If the similarity coefficient exceeds 20%, the Editors are entitled to reject the article.
The reviewers prepares reviews to significantly support the editorial process in terms of making decisions about the publication of the study. Reviews shall be conducted in an objective manner, criticism may concern substantive and formal issues, not personal ones. Reviewers are obliged to express their opinions clearly. Theses formulated by reviewers should be supported by arguments. Before undertaking a review, reviewers assess whether they are able to properly fulfill their obligations given the subject matter of the paper and proposed time for the review. The publication reviewer’s data is not disclosed – the review is done on a double blind peer review basis.
The Editor-in-Chief together with the Editorial Board shall decide which of the submitted articles will be sent for further editorial work (in particular – for review). Neither the Executive Editor nor any member of the Editorial Board shall disclose any information about a submitted paper to anyone not involved in the editorial process.
All parties involved in the editorial process are required to report any occurrence of any conflict of interest.
