Exhibition “Inspirations”, presenting bookbinding works made by the students of the Department of Paper and Leather Conservation of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń and the Department of Conservation and Restoration of Old Prints and Graphics of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, was first introduced in Toruń on 23 – 24 October 2014, as an attraction accompanying the “Conservations” fairs and the scientific conference “Then and now in conservation-restoration of historic codices”.
The exhibition shows historicized book bindings made by the students of Warsaw’s Academy of Fine Arts and artistic bindings made by the students of the university in Toruń. Presented objects are the effect of the work of students from both ateliers, the purpose of which is to introduce the future conservators-restorers to the world of the old book and its binding through practical realisations, carried out in accordance with the historic bookbinding techniques. Moreover, what is clearly shown by the mentioned objects, the ateliers allow to realise the artistic talents of young apprentices to the cultural heritage conservator-restorer profession.
