Nationality relations in the Kingdom of Poland on the eve of the outbreak of the World War I in light of the reports of the German and Austro-Hungarian diplomats

The article concerns the assessment by Second Reich and Austria-Hungarian diplomats of the nationality disputes in the Congress Poland before 1914. In the light of their reports, relations remained tense. The Poles resented the Russians for continuing Russification (building the Orthodox cathedral in Warsaw, seceding the Chełm region and postponing the introduction of local government). In response, Poles boycotted the celebrations of the 300th anniversary of the Romanovs' accession to the throne. The Russian authorities tolerated the anti-German sentiments prevailing in the Congress Poland.
