Doktor nauk humanistycznych z zakresu historii. Studia doktoranckie ukończył w Instytucie Slawistyki Polskiej Akademii Nauk. Bada problemy modernizacji i tożsamości białoruskiej w Polsce międzywojennej oraz dzieje białoruskiego ruchu narodowego w XIX i XX w. Jest autorem ponad trzydziestu publikacji naukowych.
