Edward Stachura, ‘Cała jaskrawość’ novel, Spa Park in Ciechocinek, image, sculpture.Abstract
The proposition of an artistic arrangement devoted to Edward Stachura, a writer, poet and bard associated with the region, is a joint undertaking by the Society of Friends of Toruń and the Society of Friends of Ciechocinek, referring to the 55th anniversary of the publication of his debut novel ‘Cała jaskrawość’.
Designed by the renowned Toruń-based artist Maciej Jagodziński-Jagenmeer, the sculpture (cast in bronze) depicts a life-size figure of the writer (an alter ego of the novel's protagonist) resting during a break from work on one of the stones surrounding a de-pulped pond in the Spa Park in Ciechocinek, the place where the plot of the novel ‘Cała jaskrawość’ begins.
Almost immediately after the mock-up of the project was posted on the website of the Society of Friends of Ciechocinek, a discussion flared up in local social media around the proposed image of Stachura.
Where do these emotions and voices of protest come from ?
