Albert Schweitzer’s philosophy assumes that man is rational, free, moral and affirms every life that develops around him. The process of thinking shapes human activity. Schweitzer recognises that human acts that are subject to moral judgment should be preceded by rational reflection. Man’s mental abilities connect him with other people. Man belongs to another man.
Schweitzer claims that freedom consists in the unrestricted action of a human subject, ensures participation in professional work and participation in culture. Work, thanks to freedom, cannot dehumanise man and culture is an emanation of free people.
Man is a moral subject whose all acts are subject to moral evaluation. The goal of morality is the realisation of good. A good person is an individual who experiences authentic reverence for life in all its forms.References
