fear and anxiety, value feelings, classification of feelingsAbstract
The article analyses two closely related but distinct forms of feeling – primal sensory fear and the more complex form of anxiety, which is object-directed, cognitive, and axiological in character. Czeżowski argues that value feelings develop from experiential feelings through intellectualization and sublimation, and his analysis of fear and anxiety leads him to propose a new division of feelings into active and contemplative ones.
