On Certainty in Empirical Sciences

The article analyses the problem of certainty in empirical sciences, arguing that scientific laws and hypotheses are not certain but possess degrees of probability determined by observational premises. Czeżowski shows that empirical theories form systems of probabilistic implications and that their changeability results from the continuous expansion of experience and the corresponding revision of the probabilities assigned to hypotheses.
