Leslie Marmon Silko opublikowała Storyteller w 1981 r. To dzieło ukazało się na polskim rynku jako Opowiadaczka z Puebla Laguna (Wydawnictwo Tipi, 2024 r.). Jest to pierwsza książka Silko przetłumaczona na język polski. Forma dzieła wymyka się gatunkowym ramom, ale nazwa „kolaż autobiograficzny” wydaje się celna. W skład zbioru wchodzi osiem opowiadań, więcej niż 20 poematów, ponad 20 tekstów prozą oraz 26 czarno-białych zdjęć. Wszystkie elementy są ze sobą mocno powiązane, ale nie zawsze wprost. Struktura tomu przypomina pajęczą sieć z wychodzącymi z centrum promieniami wątków, które łączą koncentryczne spirale motywów. Przede wszystkim jest to hołd złożony sztuce opowiadania praktykowanej w Pueblu Laguna i kulturze tego obszaru. Celem tekstu jest zapoznanie czytelników z postacią Leslie Marmon Silko, autorką dotąd nietłumaczoną, zaprezentowanie książki polskiemu odbiorcy, przedstawienie propozycji jej odczytania oraz przybliżenie niektórych problemów pierwszego polskiego tłumaczenia.
