Abstract

Introduction. Life satisfaction is regarded as one of the most important indicators of proper adaptation to life. A period of risk for the development of eating disorders – adolescence, very often accompanied by mood disorders/ fluctuations. A child with a weight disorder is irritable, less focused and exposed to peer disapproval. As we know, children are known for their curiosity about the world and great sincerity in spoken words, they often do not think about spoken words and have no problem to comment on the appearance of their friends or colleagues. Life satisfaction among adolescents may be closely related to weight disorders.

Aim. The aim of the thesis is to analyze the level of life satisfaction of school-age youth with weight disorders.

Material and methods. The paper used the method of diagnostic survey using a self-authored survey and the estimation method of many studies in order to obtain general conclusions.

Results. The overweight and obese group has the lowest level of satisfaction with quality of life in terms of physical health. According to our own research, there are no statistically significant differences in energy levels between different weight categories. Normal weight and overweight affect the frequency of spending time with friends, and people who are underweight show less social activity. The analysis did not show statistically significant differences between genders and age, and the level of life satisfaction.

Conclusions. The level of body weight affects adolescents in the aspect of physical health to a large extent in underweight children, and the greatest in overweight children. Overweight adolescents have the biggest problems in the area of mental health in relation to body weight. Underweight and overweight children prefer to spend time at home, feeling comfortable in their space. The demographic data of the surveyed youth does not differentiate the overall quality of life, gender or age does not affect the quality of life of the youth.
