Introduction. The most common hematologic disease is iron deficiency anemia. This disease cannot be cured. Oral or intravenous preparations are most often used, including the supply of iron preparations or the transfusion of Concentrated Red Blood Cells to supplement iron.
Methods such as interviews, medical examinations, and biochemical tests are used to assess the quality of life of patients suffering from iron deficiency anemia.
Objective. The aim of the study is to assess the quality of life of patients suffering from anemia due to iron deficiency.
Materials and methods. The study used diagnostic survey and estimation methods. The research was conducted using the SF-36 Questionnaire, a survey questionnaire of my own authorship.
Results. Using the above-mentioned research tools, it was shown that the quality of life of most respondents changed after the diagnosis of the disease, which may suggest the impact of the disease on their daily functioning, well-being and/or social relationships. Studies have not shown a significant impact of gender, age, diet and previous eating habits on the change in quality of life after diagnosis of the disease.
Conclusions. Age and gender do not have statistically significant differences in the change in quality of life after diagnosis of the disease. After being diagnosed with the disease, most respondents started to change their eating habits, which improved their quality of life.
