Introduction. A premature baby is a newborn who appeared in the world far too soon, and the phase of development in which he is now is not yet the time when he should be in the natural environment. These children, immediately after birth and during their sometimes long stay in the hospital, undergo many medical procedures. The current organizational standard of perinatal care justifies the performance of these procedures. The mother's informed consent must be obtained to perform a medical procedure. An important aspect is the education of mothers who gave birth prematurely, it is aimed at learning and accepting all procedures. Properly conducted education allows for increasing the knowledge of the mother of a premature baby and making an informed decision to perform medical procedures.
Aim of the study. The aim of this study is to analyse the implementation of medical procedures performed in a prematurely born newborn as part of the organizational standard of perinatal care. Objective of the work. Material and methods. The research material includes 103 women who are mothers of prematurely born infants in the WSS in Włocławek, in the neonatal ward. The study used an original questionnaire necessary to conduct the research, an agar scale, and a data sheet about a premature baby.
Results. Procedures such as: umbilical cord, Apgar scale, labelling, vitamin K, hepatitis vaccination, hearing tests, dry paper tests, pulse oximetry test were performed in all children, and in the least degree HBS and Silverman's scale. The medical staff performs all the required procedures as part of the perinatal care organization standard for most newborns born prematurely (almost 100%). Socio-demographic factors such as age, place of residence, education affect the level of knowledge of mothers about medical procedures performed in premature infants. Mothers of prematurely born newborns are satisfied with the level of education on medical procedures performed in their children.
Conclusions. Medical procedures based on the organizational standard have been performed in most children, which proves the high quality of care provided by the medical staff.
