The purpose of the study was to analyse the role of US War Secretary Henry L. Stimson played in the internment of Japanese Americans during the Second World War. Secretary of War under President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s, Stimpson influenced the US policy towards the Japanese minority. Despite doubts about the legality of the internment, Stimpson backed the action on the grounds of impossibility to infiltrate the Japanese community and the threat of Japanese attacks against the West Coast. His actions make him jointly responsible for the mass internment of Japanese Americans.
