Abstract

The revelation of the divinity of Christ raises essential questions: How and when was it understood and accepted? What role does the Holy Spirit play in this understanding? This article explores these questions from the perspective of Saint Thomas Aquinas in his Commentary on the Gospel of Saint John. The Spirit gradually prepares the disciples to embrace the mystery of the Incarnation, a truth that surpasses their understanding. Without the Spirit, sent in fullness at Easter, the disciples would be unable to receive the Word of God, who is the Son. Thus, the divine missions in revelation are shown to be deeply connected to the immanent Trinity
