The Pomeranian boat: The last link of the typological chain of the boatbuilding at the lower Vistula
The Pomeranian boat is a traditional stave boat and the last link of the typological chain of the lower Vistulan boatbuilding. The area of its occurrence is a section of this river between the Drwęca and its estuary to the Baltic Sea47. Ernst Stoyke from Silna stood out among the boat builders operating in this area until the mid-twentieth century. The discussed typological chain was started by the Masovian boat, the lejtak; the central element is the Kuyavian nieszawka. Although in the second half of the twentieth century the Pomeranian boat was used less and less often, it remained a permanent element of the Vistulian boatbuilding. Translated by Anna Maleszka
