The system of police control over the activities of Poles in the Ruhr area, developing and expanding since the mid-1880s, over time turned into a bureaucratic machine that reached its peak in the creation of the supervision headquarters in 1909 in Bochum. Its task was to collect all kinds of information about the Polish movement, process it and transfer it to the relevant offices. However, this did not help to limit the Polish activity in the Ruhr area or to inhibit the development of the Polish national movement. Translated by Agnieszka Chabros
