Abstract

The main aim of the article is to describe the review of international research in the field of the impact of industry-level effects on the financial performance of companies and to present the results of own research in this field. The sample consisted of 85 Polish public companies, the data were collected for the period 2005‒2007, the empirical analysis was conducted using the multiple regression analysis. The results of international research show the divergent outcomes – from the importance of industry effects on companies performance to almost no effects. The results of my research show the insignificant influence of industry effects on companies performance with the significant influence of company effects.
