The article contains considerations on the role of transience in the life of a book, especially an art book. Starting with examples of “ordinary” books, the author analyzes the changes that occur in these objects as a result of their use. Then she compares them with the techniques of sewing folds, which she develops as part of her bookbinding interests, and in art books she treats as an inspiration. One of the most important aspects of a book is that it is a movable object, but also one that changes over time. These features are common to both art books and “ordinary” books, as long as their existence is not virtual.
