Between worlds. Semantic annotation in digital scholarly edition

Abstract

The text presents the practical challenges of creating scholarly digital editions of Polish literary correspondence, specifically, manual semantic annotation. The research material consists of letters between Mieczysław Grydzewski and Halina and Kazimierz Wierzyński, compiled by Beata Dorosz and published in paper and digital versions. The analysis and a proposal for a preliminary classification of the most common problems are preceded by an outline of the situation of Polish digital editing in the context of current phenomena in the digital humanities, such as multilingualism, the need for user research or the creation of bibliographic data of digital research results.
