Сприйняття сучасниками культурно-соціальної стратифікації населення Львова у другій половині XX століття

Abstract

As a result of the destructive processes carried out by the new government during the Soviet occupation of Lviv, the ethnic and social composition of the city's population underwent profound changes. Interviews with Lviv residents of the older and middle generations allow us to cover individual and typical features in the perception of “friends” and “foes” in the city space. The article uses eight interviews with Lviv residents born in 1945-1975, who can be divided into two subgroups based on age: those whose childhood and early adolescence were during the Khrushchev thaw and those who grew up during the Brezhnev stagnation. Representatives of the first group are Ukrainian-speaking, while the second group is mixed (2 Ukrainian-speaking and 2 Russian-speaking). Of the 8 respondents, 7 are women and 1 is a man. Despite the fact that 2 people in the second subgroup were Russian-speakers in childhood, all of them chose to speak Ukrainian as adults, both in private and in public spaces. For the analysis, the method of in-depth interviews was used with a descriptive method, as the methodology of oral history allows for a significant addition to the history of everyday life.
