W artykule zaprezentowano stan badań na temat okoliczności powstania Musejonu aleksandryjskiego, a także skonfrontowano dotychczasowe opinie o powstaniu Musejonu i Biblioteki w Aleksandrii z zachowanymi źródłami starożytnymi. Krytycznej ocenie poddano w szczególności tezy o kluczowej roli Demetriusza z Faleronu w organizacji Musejonu i Biblioteki w Aleksandrii.
