PERCEPTION OF THE CATHOLIC CLERGY AS A PROFESSIONAL GROUP IN THE LIGHT OF OPERATIONAL AND TRAINING MATERIALS OF THE POLISH SECURITY SERVICE (1963–1989)

Abstract

The perimeter of the mechanisms of interference by the Polish People’s Republic security service in the authenticity of the perception of the clergy are socio-technical manipulations of operational techniques. The problem of image creation has to be dealt with in the fi eld of historical narration within the aspect of operational surveillance of the individual priest, which relativises his social role to be fulfi lled in the realities of the former Polish state. This phenomenon left its mark, eroding the order of the political system, as well as consolidating the forces opposing it in times of crises of power. The formula of the analytical compilation is aimed at defi ning the labels ascribed to the clergy with the use of a scheme of dissection while developing the rudiments of the work of the security service offi cers. The identifi cation of the factors of social destabilisation among priests was conditioned by the propaganda of ‘tracking down the enemy’. The case studies compiled by the author constitute an interpretative proposal for the hermeneutics of sources. The study of the operational security of priests verifi es the uncovered instructions of the apparatus of repression.
