INTEGRATION OF THE SCOUTING METHOD IN THE EVANGELISATION OF CHILDREN AND YOUTH AND IN THE FORMATION OF ALTAR SERVERS ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE „SKAUCI KROLA” („THE SCOUTS OF THE KING”)

Abstract

The article will first present the activities of the Catholic association „Skauci Krola” (i.e. „The Scouts of King”) in terms of its evangelising potential. It will indicate the specific understanding of scouting characteristic of this organization as a proven and at the same time adaptable method which responds to the challenges posed in the present day. As it seems, it can be successfully implemented to a certain extent in the mission of the Church. The second part of the paper will present the publications of the formation materials inspired by the scouting method and the activities of The Scouts of the King that are dedicated to the altar servers. The entire article will be structured around the idea of self-education, which is undoubtedly inspired both by the indications of General Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell, the founder of Scouting, and by the eff orts of the Church founded on the person and the work of Jesus Christ. The paper will also include references to the person of Stefan Wincenty Frelichowski, the patron saint of the Polish scouts, and the Venerable Servant of God Franciszek Blachnicki whose life is the actual fruit of the integration of the themes discussed in the article.
