Abstract

The aim of the paper is to provide a critical assessment of the registries of town clerks in the Old Town and New Town of Braniewo (until 1772) compiled by Danuta Bogdan and Jerzy Przeracki. With all due respect given to the Authors and the effort they put into the project, the article points to some omissions and a number of errors and inconsistencies of varying importance and nature. A lot of attention is paid to relatively frequent disparities between the material collected in annual lists and the data compiled in the name index.

Radosław Krajniak, Uniwersytet Mikołaja Kopernika w Toruniu

Radosław Krajniak – PhD, assistant academic employee at the Department of the Historical and Geographical Dictionary of Medieval Prussia of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. Recipient of a stipend in the “START” Programme for young researchers of the Foundation of Polish Science. Scholarship recipient of the Lanckoroński Foundation and the Polish Historical Mission in Würzburg. He has received individual and team grants financed by the National Science Centre and the National Programme for the Development of Humanities.
