Humanitarian protection of animals stems from the belief that an animal is capable of feeling pain and suffering. This kind of animal protection is regulated in Polish law in the Protection of Animals Act of 21 August 1997. The Act was amended several times – the last amendment took place in 2011. The purpose of this article is to determine whether the new legislation will help to increase the effectiveness of the protection of animals from cruelty and ill-treatment.Downloads
