Abstract

The article begins with a quick look at the historical context, while the presentation of St Teresa’s path of mental prayer follows the stages of her biography: Beginning of mental prayer (1), Confirmation (2), Finding own method of prayer (3), Crises (4), Consequences (5), Practice of mental prayer (6), Fruit of prayer (7).

Ulrich Dobhan, University of Mysticism (CITeS Avila)

Discalced Carmelite; PhD on the University of Julius Maximilian in Würzburg (1977); provincial of the German Province of Discalced Carmelite (1981–1993; 2008–,); general definitor of the Order (1997–2003); since 1992 lecturer in Centro Internationale Teresiano e Sanjuanista (CITeS) in Avila (Spain). Editor and translator into German of works of St John of the Cross (since 1995), St Teresa Benedicta of the Cross - Edth Stein (since 2000), St Teresa of Avila (since 2002); editor of the periodical „Edith Stein Jahrbuch” (since 2004).
