About the Journal
Focus and Scope
Published since 2008, "Itinera Spiritualia" is issued yearly by the Carmelite Institute of Spirituality and by the Publishing House of Discalced Carmelite in Kraków, Poland. Each issue of the journal includes scholarly articles dedicated to a specific theme of theology of spirituality and its connections with other theological and scientifical specializations.
Because of the journal's interdisciplinary character, it seeks to include, among both its contributors and its audience, not only scholars of the theology of spirituality but also theologians of various specializations. Thus, the aim of the journal is to present both reliable knowledge and expert interpretation concerning a given topic, usually ones being actively debated in our modern society. The journal's scope encompasses competently informing an intelligent and inquisitive reader and, further, enhancing the dialogue among various theological specializations, as well as between theology of spirituality and modern social science.
Three of ninth articles are published in foreign languages, i.e. interchangeably in English, Italien, Spanish, German, Franch, six articles in the Polish language, since the primary goal of the journal is to enhance and stimulate debate among Polish-speaking scholars, as well as to reliably convey the results of such debate to a wide Polish readership with an interest in the field.
By means of a rigid review process, the journal tries to ensure that the content of the submitted works reflects the latest developments in the international discussion on a given topic. In fact, this engagement in some ongoing international debate or dialogue is a condition sine qua non for accepting any submitted article. Finally, since the readership of such a journal is found mostly within the academic world, among both teaching staff and students, our editorial board has taken steps to make the content as accessible as possible, especially through an open-access policy and by making articles available through academic databases.
Peer Review Process
"Itinera Spiritualia" uses a double-blind peer review system. Manuscript author(s) do not know the identity of the two reviewers to whom the submitted article is sent, and vice versa, the reviewers do not know the names of the author(s) of the article. When you submit your article via your account in the Editorial Manager, you will be asked to include in the indicated line the title of the contribution, an English summary, and the bibliography used in the article. These three items will be sent to the referees when they are asked by the Editor to review your contribution. The manuscript submitted on-line should not contain any information concerning the identity of the author, his or her address, institution or any other information that could expose the identity of the author. All these data are included in the form you are asked to fill out when you set up your account in the journal site.
