Abstract

The central idea of the article is to show that the thought of the doctors of Carmel (John of the Cross, Teresa of Avila, Teresa of the Infant Jesus) about the evangelical counsels is not outdated but it have had a good influence on the teaching of the Second Vatican Council.

Discalced Carmelite; professor dr hab. of theology (2005); head of the Department of History of Spirituality at the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Krakow, director and founder of the Carmelite Institut of Spirituality in Krakow, editor of book series: „Karmel żywy”, „Formacja zakonna”, author of many articles and books, e.g.: Rady ewangeliczne.
