The Kielce region was where the armed struggle of the Home Army units was mainly undertaken as part of Operation „Burza” [„Storm”]. However, the course of many of the battles fought there is known mainly from Polish reports and accounts, which usually exaggerate the scale of their own successes, which is confirmed in the documents of various Wehrmacht structures. A particularly interesting case concerned a battle of Szewce on 18 September 1944, which lasted several hours. Never before had the Germans suffered such severe losses in a confrontation with the armed forces of the Polish underground State. the balance of the fight had
never been so one-sided, either.
