At the turn of 2024/2025, the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk presented the temporary exhibition „THE FOREST – A Refuge of Victims, a Hideout of Crime.” The exhibition aimed to affirm life in harmony with nature and cultural achievements in contrast to the tragic consequences of war, which destroys the world of values, takes lives, and devastates the human environment. The forest is also a refuge for women who protected the lives of their loved ones in this place. The aim of this essay is to present selected stories of the exhibition’s protagonists.
