Abstract

In the last years of the 20th century, the dispute around the history of the Secret Military Organization „Gryf Pomorski” arose. The most controversial point of the discussion remains the assessment of two leaders of this organization: Józef Dambek and Lieutenant Józef Gierszewski. Their conflict resulting in the murder of Józef Gierszewski still raises very sharp disputes and is associated with serious accusations also made against members of the Polish Underground State who were not part of the Pomeranian conspiracy.
The conflict over the memory and commemoration are reflected in documents, newspapers and magazines, and even in the courtroom.
