Toruń meeting of the “Mass goods deposition research team”, Toruń 17.05.2024

On 17 May 2024, the Institute of Archaeology, NCU in Toruń saw the eighth meeting of the “mass goods deposition research team”. The programme of the conference covered 10 lectures pertaining to hoards of metal items deposited from the Eneolithic (K. Adamczak), through the prehistoric ages of metal (P. Fudziński, F. Gałas, G. Szczurek M. Krzepkowski, G. Gmyrek, M. Kaczmarek, M. Sosnowski, O. Popkiewicz, P. Niemcewicz, A. Piasecka, A. Podgórski, J. Gackowski, K. Nowak, P. Gan., M. Przymorska-Sztuczka, Ł. Szczepański), to the early medieval period (W. Chudziak, P. Błędowski, R. Kaźmierczak, M. Weinkauf). The conference was attended by over 80 individuals including archaeologists, conservators-restorers, and archaeometallurgists of universities and the Polish Academy of Sciences, monument preservation staff, and museologists from the region of Kuyavia-Pomerania and northern Poland. Other meeting participants included also students from several Polish academic centres. An important part of this event was a commemorative exhibition of selected collections of metal artefacts that are part of recently unearthed group finds, presented during the lectures.
